The Wela Investment Committee is comprised of 10 strategists and eight voting members with a wide range of experience and focused backgrounds. The team comes from tax, investment, banking, insurance and legal backgrounds, and has dedicated specialists in the areas of overall domestic and equity markets, commodity-related assets, economics, closed-end funds, real estate investments, and preferred and convertible securities.
Our committee meets every two weeks and as necessary to discuss portfolios, markets and specific investment-related events, and we make strategic and tactical changes to our opinions and portfolios as necessary. In addition to making these portfolio changes, the committee reviews the entire ETF and related securities universe to determine the optimal mix of assets within each of our strategies. We are always striving to find not only the right allocation within the strategies, but also the appropriate mix of investments to accomplish a specific strategy’s goals.
On a semi-annual basis, the committee holds its “Re-Allocation Meeting” to review approximately 100 data points relative to their previous levels to make appropriate 6- and 12-month allocation decisions across our universe of strategies. We are not restricted to only making decisions at these meetings, however, these are set periodic reviews of our positions and allocations.
